Northview Leadership Residency

Northview Leadership Residency

The Northview Church Residency Program is a two-year leadership residency designed to give real hands-on ministry experience, personal mentoring and leadership training to develop emerging church leaders for a lifetime of Kingdom impact.

This could be the best season of your life as you experience incredible growth as a follower of Jesus and make a tremendous difference in the Kingdom serving with a great team!

Residents gain experience by serving with other Christian leaders and sharing in meaningful ministry service while receiving mentoring and development by experienced and caring Christian leaders of the church. Each resident will serve in a primary area of ministry focus based on experience, passion and desired ministry future.

Resident positions are available in our Northview Kids, Northview Students and worship ministry departments. As a resident, you will receive 24 hours of hands on ministry experience and four hours of classroom leadership development each week. Residents are paid a monthly stipend of $500, with optional housing for single residents.

Development Components

Ministry Experience

This is what the residency is all about. The purpose of the residency is to ensure that that the residents have the leadership capacity and know-how to effectively and competently lead.

Leadership Coaching

Two times per month, the resident coach will meet one-on-one to discuss ministry with the resident to ensure the resident is growing in ministry competence.

Personal Development

Personal development is more about who the resident is than what the resident does. The resident coach will meet one-on-one for personal development with resident to ensure the resident is growing as a person and Christian.

Leadership Training Curriculum

The Leadership Training Curriculum is unpacked during a weekly training meeting and gives valuable insight into different types of leadership. The weekly training curriculum covers self-leadership, relational leadership and organizational leadership.

Winning Staff And Church Culture

Being part of a winning team is contagious. Residents benefit greatly from being invited into a staff and church culture that is thriving and healthy. Within this context, they pick up nuances and attitudes that separate winning teams from other teams.

Quarterly Evaluations

Each quarter, a formal evaluation process gives feedback to the resident as well as to the resident coach about the residency and the resident’s readiness for pastoral ministry. It also serves as a “catch” for any development opportunities that have been inadvertently overlooked in the other components.

These are the essential qualifications we consider for all potential leadership residents.

  • Able to express a clear call to ministry
  • A college graduate (or clearly on their way)
  • Clear and compelling leadership potential
  • Expected to commit 24 hours of hands on ministry and four hours of classroom leadership training per week
  • Have some ministry experience
  • Have an appropriate maturity and work ethic
  • In alignment with our philosophy, culture and staff
