Dawn Redwood- Metasequoia glyptostroboides- The Dawn Redwood is a fast-growing deciduous tree and a true “living fossil”, because its fossilized remains were discovered before living plants were found. Metasequoia, or Dawn Redwoods, is one of three species of conifers known as redwoods. Although the shortest of the redwoods, it grows to at least 165 feet in height. Since its rediscovery in 1944, the Dawn Redwood has become a popular ornamental.
