European Silver Fir-Abies alba is a large evergreen coniferous tree. It prefers high elevation with 39+ inches of annual rainfall. The largest specimen measured 200 feet tall with diameter of 12 feet! It is an ornamental and timber species that is native to Europe and Asia. The needles are thick, glossy, and flat on top with two green-white stomata below. The trunk is white (alba) and was used in Roman times to make caskets.
