Learn More:

Black Hills Spruce-Picea glauca, is a variety of White Spruce native to northern temperate and boreal forests in North America. Picea glauca was originally native to central Alaska, through the east and across southern and central Canada. It will grow well in hardiness zones 3-6, tolerates a variety of soils, and especially prefers well-drained soil. This variety will survive in dry, hot areas better than other spruces and seems to get along fine with 10 inches of rain or more. The Black Hills Spruce is a recommended windbreak tree. It is hardy to minus 40 degrees, yet grows at a good pace, reaching 10 feet tall within 10 years.
