Honeylocust-Gleditsia triacanthos 'Shademaster'

Ponder This:

The Honey Locust tree does what most trees do. It grows straight and tall, provides a lot of shade as its name suggests, and turns color when the temperature drops. The tree is native so it is very hardy and can withstand air and street pollution. In addition, the wood from the Honey Locust is strong and rarely breaks even when threatened with ice or windstorm.

The unique aspect of this tree though is that even though it supplies a lot of shade, the leaves are small enough so that grass and plants can thrive underneath the canopy. Raking is optional with this tree! In brief, this is a great tree to sit and enjoy the shade on a summer’s day.

Like the Shademaster, we all likely have people in our life that provide comfort and safety from the storms of life. People that listen; people that let us vent; people that allow us to rest, to take a break from the busyness of life. They are the people who see a need and help; those that give when they see someone struggling; saints that take the time to provide comfort when they see someone hurting. Take a moment now to thank God for the shade provided by this Honey Locust and for the people that are shade trees in your life.
